Tidebloom began in 2018 when our founder, Sarah Lim, took her first hot air balloon flight over Cappadocia during a solo backpacking trip through Turkey. Drifting above the fairy chimneys at sunrise, she realized something was missing from most travel experiences: a genuine connection to the culture beneath the tourist surface. When she returned to Malaysia, the idea for Tidebloom took root.
We started small, partnering with a single balloon operator in Göreme and focusing on Malaysian travelers seeking more than just photos. Our approach was differentâevery flight came with cultural context. We explained the geology of the volcanic formations, the history of cave churches, the Silk Road trade routes that passed through these valleys. We connected travelers with local pottery artisans, arranged meals in family-run restaurants, and hired guides who grew up in Cappadocia.
Today, Tidebloom operates year-round balloon experiences and multi-day cultural journeys across Turkey. We've expanded beyond Cappadocia to include Istanbul, Konya, and the Aegean coast, but our mission remains unchanged: create travel experiences that educate, inspire, and respect the cultures we visit. Every journey we design balances the thrill of flight with the depth of heritage.

Our itineraries include time with local artisans, meals in family kitchens, and walks through villages where tourism hasn't yet displaced traditional life.
Based in Kuala Lumpur, we understand Malaysian travelers' needs: halal meal options, prayer time accommodations, culturally appropriate dress guidance for mosque visits. We provide Malay-speaking support throughout the booking process and pre-departure orientation covering Turkish customs, currency, tipping practices, and essential Turkish phrases.
Our commitment extends beyond the journey itself. Tidebloom allocates a portion of revenue to preserve Cappadocia's heritage sites through partnerships with restoration projects and educational programs for local youth.
